I. Why Live Filter?
Live Filter was built to help your visitors to find what they want quickly and easily.
To show filters in sidebar, please check this document.
Content Views Pro already has the Shuffle Filter feature, which provides a nice animation to filtering WordPress posts by category, tag or custom taxonomy. You can find the demo of Shuffle Filter here.
But Shuffle filter also has disadvantages: it doesn’t support numbered pagination, it can’t show WordPress custom fields as filter options, it can’t show sort options. That is why we’ve built a new filter called “Live Filter”, which offers another powerful filtering & sorting functionality to your WordPress site, to help your visitors to find what they want quickly.
The main differences between Shuffle Filter and Live Filter:
Live Filter | Shuffle Filter | |
---|---|---|
A comprehensive front-end filter | Yes. It can filter with complex combination of multiple taxonomies, custom fields, text search, and sort |
No. It only can filter well with one taxonomy. |
Show custom field as filter | Yes | No |
Show text search field | Yes | No |
Show sorting options | Yes | No |
Work in the Blog page, taxonomy archive page, search page, etc. | Yes | No |
Modify & process URL parameters | Yes | No |
Pagination support | (Ajax) Numbered pagination | (Ajax) Load more (Ajax) Infinite scrolling |
Use animation when filtering results | No | Yes |
With Live Filter, you can show filters as:
- Checkbox
- Dropdown
- Radio button
- Buttons group
- Range slider (*)
- Date range (*)
- Text search
(*): These options are only available when showing custom field as filter.

5. Show options to sort by Title, Date
Besides showing custom fields as sort options, you can show common options too:
- Date (Oldest)
- Date (Newest)
- Title (A – Z)
- Title (Z – A)

- Comments count (desc)
That helps your visitors to sort content themselves by title, date, comments count.
These options are selectable, and their text are changeable.
